Traditional method
The conventional packaging solution for pallet‑loaded goods is stretch‑wrapping. Semi‑automatic or fully‑automatic stretch wrappers apply layers of polyethylene stretch film around pallets. This process is time‑consuming and generates substantial material waste. Improper film‑layer settings often fail to provide sufficient cargo protection during transit, resulting in unnecessary packaging‑material costs. Additional top‑sheet covering is required if dust‑proof and moisture‑proof performance is needed. For buyer inspection, the existing stretch film must be completely removed, and the pallet needs to be re‑wrapped afterwards, which is labor‑intensive and time‑consuming.
Advanced method
The new high-speed pallet packing method is cold stretch hood, which not only meets the requirements of environmental protection and energy saving, but also provides a convenient way to protect goods. Cold stretch film completely covers the products and the pallet from top to bottom, tightly wrapping, acts as a water and dust protection. Film shrinkage ratio (LLDPE): 17-20%, the thickness is only 0.1mm, and the amount of material per pallet is only about 500-560g, which can greatly reduce the cost of packaging materials.
Productivity is high when wrapping with stretch film, and different sized films can be used to wrap different sized pallets. The high elasticity of the film prevents damage to the goods during transport and storage. Hermetically sealed packaging protects against external influences.
STRETCH HOODER
Stretch hooder (packaging in stretch film) is one of the fastest‑growing packaging technologies for palletized stacked goods.
Working principle: The stretch-hood sleeve is opened and stretched in four directions, then fitted over the goods on the pallet (see figure). Due to the elastic property of the film material, the packaging medium tends to revert to its pre‑stretched condition. This creates uniform clamping force all around the pallet load.
Compared with conventional heat‑shrink hood packaging and rotary stretch‑wrapping, stretch‑hood packaging delivers significantly higher clamping force.Another outstanding advantage of this technology is that there is no need for costly and energy‑intensive shrink or hot‑air tunnel, which enables energy savings of at least 30‑40%. Cold stretch film is used for protective packaging of a wide range of products.
It can minimize various damages to the goods during transportation or movement, such as shaking, cracking, loosening, crushing, water and moisture.
Compared with the traditional winding film or heat shrinkable film, cold stretch film is more stable for product packaging, and can effectively improve the safety of product transportation and storage.
